Meeting
October 7, 2006
A meeting of the Board of Directors
of the Texas Federation of Pachyderm Clubs was held at 1802 Broadway, Suite
206, Galveston, Texas, on October 7 2006, beginning at 9:37 AM. The meeting
was called to order by President Kerry Neves, with a majority of the Board
present for the meeting. The following were present:

The minutes of the meeting of
July 8, 2006, were approved unanimously on a motion by Edgar Morales and
seconded by Tony Massaro.
Bryan Dunaway presented the
Treasurer’s Report. He reported a fund balance of $2,724.97. The Treasurer’s
report was approved unanimously.
Pete Hinojosa made a report from
the Nominations Committee. The following were nominated for the positions
noted by their names:

The Report of the Nominations
Committee was unanimously approved on a motion made by Gregory James and
seconded by Joyce Hebert.
There was no report from the
By-laws Committee.
Tim Taft reported on his
attendance at the initial meeting of the Chambers County Pachyderm Club in
Anahuac. That club expects to finalize its organizational requirements and
be chartered in September or October.
Gregory James informed the Board
he is working with Chris Chapman to help get a new Club formed in Collin
County. He also told the Board the North Dallas Pachyderm Club appears to
have disbanded due to a desire on the part of some of the members to be
involved in more partisan activities.
Tony Massaro reported the San
Angelo Pachyderm Club has been very active in support of candidates in Tom
Green County and statewide candidates. He told the Board the Abilene
Pachyderm Club had Gina Parker as a guest speaker for Constitution Day. He
praised Dr. Donald May as a speaker, who wants to speak to more Pachyderm
Clubs, and who he suggests for a possible speaker at the National Conference
in Wichita, Kansas.
Joyce Hebert reported the
Southeast Texas Pachyderm Club is working for a number of candidates, and
has provided forums for those candidates. Bill Calhoun, President of the
Texas Federation of Black Republicans, was a recent speaker at their Club.
Edgar Morales reported the Alamo
Pachyderm Club continues to grow. He asked for contact names for a possible
Pachyderm Club in Victoria. He reported the Alamo Pachyderm Club cooked at
the Bexar County Chairman’s Barbeque recently, which provided support for a
large number of candidates. He also indicated he has been named to the Texas
Parole Commission, and will work to develop Pachyderm Clubs in the areas in
which he will be working.
Kerry Neves made the President’s
report. He reported on the numerous candidates who are Pachyderm members. He
told the Board the new Austin County Pachyderm Club is about to be
chartered, and has been active in generating support for several contested
races in that county. He echoed the comments of Tim Taft about the Chambers
County Pachyderm Club, which is in formation. President Neves has promised
to go to their first official meeting to install the first slate of
officers. He also told the Board he is familiar with Chris Chapman’s efforts
to get the Collin County Pachyderm Club formed, and offered all support
needed to get that Club formed.
The next meeting of the Board
will take place on January 6, 2007, at 9:30 AM. Conference call arrangements
will be made for the call.
