From the President…
Good Day,
It is hard to believe that the
Greater Collin County Pachyderm Club (GCCPC) celebrated its one year
anniversary at our February meeting. It is even harder to believe that the
seed to start the club was conceived after a night of phone bank work almost
2 years ago. Many hours were spent around Jeran’s dining room table to
formulate how to grow the seed.
The goals formulated by the
founders including reaching out to as many people within Collin County and
providing a variety of political and civic programs. Our first year’s
speakers have included state and local politicians as well as several
speakers whose work helps the troops and the needy. At the close of 2007,
we had a membership of 74 who live in many different parts of Collin County.
The national pachyderm states
that the purposes of the club are to:
 |
provide a practical means for broad citizen participation in
politics; |
 |
promote practical political education and the dissemination of
information on our political system; |
 |
promote development of potential leaders; and
|
 |
assist in carrying out the principles and purposes of the Republican
Party. |
The national pachyderm states
that the objectives of the club are to:
 |
promote the art of politics; |
 |
engage in non-profit educational activities through club activities
and other means; |
 |
cooperate with the Republican Party; and
|
 |
promote understanding and harmony within the Republican Party as it
deals with divisive issues. |
The motto of the pachyderms is
“free government requires active citizens”.
I’d like to invite anyone who
would like to learn more about what is happening in Collin County to come
and check us out. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month
(except for July) at noon at Ralph and Kacoo’s in Allen.
Thank you and look forward to
meeting you,
JB Owen
